How is Miller the answer in Colorado when he can't keep the puck out of the net in Buffalo? Both have atrocious D. It would be the exact same story. Also I am sure LOTS of coaches would love for their GMs to get them players doesn't mean it happens. Another thing by the time Colorado got a better group of D Miller would likely be 36 or close to it so why just not stick with the goalie who is way younger and wait till their D shapes up. |

Better forwards in Colorado. Better puck possession stats helps more than most of us give credit for. Plus better special team statistics help tremendously. Remember Millers even strength save percentage last year was really good. It was his short handed stats which a terrible pk doesn't help. Personally I'm ready for the season. I don't think I've seen a trade of someone with the name recognition like Miller happen so close to the season |

I like the sound of a deal the sees Buffalo getting Paul Stastny and Avs prospect Andrew Aggozino
Let me guess. You're an expert on Andrew Aggozino (WHO?!?). |

For sure and we had a discussion yesterday I just think Colorado would be better suited to move Stastny for a a good top 4 defender or a top 2 if they could pull it off. I don't really think Varlamov is a bad goalie especially when you look at the two teams he has played for in his young career they aren't exactly the best defensively and he is perhaps just coming into his prime. What I am saying is if they had Mason and Emery as their goalies it would make sense but they have a goalie who is a capable starting goalie |

Agreed they could use a top 4 d but I don't think Statsny gets you a top 4 d. Unless that D is a UFA to be as well |

Serious error to think that Roy or Sakic's desire to win will make them jump into doing short term deals.
Roy proved to be one of the better junior coaches in Canada. He understands there are no short cuts to acquiring and developing talent.
A deal of Statsny for Miller probably can work for both teams but does not have major impact on long term goals. It is probably a doable deal if, Colorado believes a new contract for O'Reilly is going to get done.
Not sure there is much good in this proposed deal for Buffalo. Why would the Sabres be interested? |

IF this deal ever happened, the Sabres will have a top line and improve their C position. Plus if it all fails, more teams are willing to make trades for F's instead of G, so it also helps them at the deadline....
Would be interesting and sensible hockey trade for both..... |

No...he has no authority to make a trade, it was leaked in a denver post article that every year an NHL team has to submit a list of 3 people who have the authority to make trade calls. Sakic, Roy, and Billington were on that list |

hes a decent player, signed him as an undrafted player to the monsters last season, impressed, so signed him to a 2 way deal witht he Avs after that. Crafty and small, unsure if he would even make the NHL though. |

same guy, was surprised he wasnt drafted bc he lit up juniors with him, but I guess it was the too small and leached off playing with strome argument.
no different than justin shugg and taylor hall from back in the day, but at least he got drafted later on |

I think Garth just pulled out his trusty Hockey News yearbook and picked out a random player. Like he was down scouting Monsters' games this season.

He also mentions Carey Price, are the avalanche trading for him too?
The 2 guys he mentioned were from a league he said he doesn't pay attention to.
You also have to remember that Giguere played for 2 teams before he finally met up with Allaire in Anaheim, and got his break, give Varlamov the chance and see what happens.
The defense is horrible and the team had a very bad coach in Sacco.
Miller's age is his biggest detriment, and unless something else is coming back with him to compensate the difference between him and Stastny. Then you have to figure out where Varlamov goes, and if they can get something back for him. They'd probably have to deal him first and see what they could get, before trying to trade for Miller, otherwise they're STUCK with 3 goalies and nobody has to help them unload one, thus lowering Varlamov's value. Unless they included him in the deal for Miller and then Buffalo added a defenseman.
I'd hold off and see what happens with Varlamov. |
